חמדוריאה אלגנס

צמח בית מעולה, גם בעוצמות אור נמוכות. באזור מחייתה הטבעי חיה החמדוריאה אלגנס ביערות מרכז אמריקה (מקסיקו, בליז), נהנית מלחות גבוהה ורטיבות קרקע תחת עצי ענק, צל רב וטמפרטורה לא גבוהה. דקל קטן זה הינו עמיד לטמפרטורה נמוכה ולכן רבה גמישותו לאזורי אקלים שונים, מרגיש בבית באזור טרופי, סובטרופי, ממוזג ים תיכוני, עד לטמפרטורה של 2-3 מעלות, כל עוד אינו חשוף לשמש ישירה.

דקל החמדוריאה אלגנס  הינו דקל הפנים הפופולארי ביותר בעולם ומקשט את טרקליני העולם מזה כ200 שנים.

כמו כן ניתן לשתול דקל זה בפינות צל בגינון, והוא יוסיף חיות לגינה בנופו הירוק עד. הוא מגיע לגובה של כ1 מטר, על גזע בודד עם ענף פריחה צהוב ירקרק וזרעים שחורים רבים על ענף הדקל הנקבי.

Chamaedorea elegans

This is an excellent small palm for indoor use, even at low light levels. In its natural habitat, in the forests of Central America (Mexico), it thrived under the larger trees of the forests. It is cold-hardy and flexible; suitable to temperate climates, at the same time feeling at home in the tropics, as long as it is away from the sun.

One of the most popular pot plants in the world. The Chamaedorea Elegans can be planted in shady spots in gardens adding its evergreen foliage to the ground cover.

It is a small plant in height (up to 1 meter) and contains a single trunk, with blackish seeds in clusters on its female palm.
